The closing date for submissions on the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s application for a $lO million reclamation of the port’s inner harbour has been extended to March 31. The Harbour Board plans to reclaim land by Gladstone Pier. The proposal will increase the area for the container terminal and provide extra land for multi-pur-pose shipping facilities.
Access to the container terminal will also be improved. Only 12 submissions had been received by the original closing date of January 17. A spokesman for the Ports Authority in Wellington said yesterday that after the submissions were received and considered, a public meeting would be held in Lyttelton or Christchurch.
