‘Family’ food
Unlike many other popular hotel-restaurants, the Bruce Restaurant, which is part of the larger Akaroa Village Inn complex, welcomes families to dine there at any time.
The Bruce Restaurant is open seven days a week, serving popular lunches, of which Sunday smorgasbords are a speciality, afternoon Devonshire ■teas, and twilight dinners overlooking the harbour. The staff takes pride in the special children’s menu which has main courses that cost, on aver-
age, about $3.
The restaurant tries to cater for all tastes. Akaroa-fresh seafood, Peninsula-farm meats and fresh vegetables, rabbit and pheasant are all part of the menu. Because the restaurant is also licensed, a good selection of wines, beers and other popular drinks are offered.
The restaurant seats 80, so tables are usually available for impromptu dinners; however, during week-ends, it is more advisable to telephone and make a reservation.
