Short story award finalists

PA Timaru Judges of the Timaru Herald-Holme Station Festival short story award have announced the six finalists. They are: Neville Guthrie of Timaru (“Before Holme Station”), Jane Buxton of Christchurch (“The Magpie”), Owen Marshal of Oamaru (“Effie”), Desiree Mihaka of Wellington ("Hone Plans a Holiday”), Jeanette Galpan of Marton (“Aroha and the River”), and Jean Bennett of Tauranga ("Wilderness Woman”). Finalists were chosen from a total of 96 entries. The winner and two runners-up will be announced at the opening night of the festival on February 7. The winner will receive $lOOO and a piece of greenstone, and the runners-up will each receive greenstone.
