Not just another (yawn) coaching tape

By

GRAHAM PARKER and AVENE FLANNERY

JEREMY CONEY’S CRICKET COACHING VIDEO Televison and Video Productions, 120 min G 1985

spin bowling, fielding, wicket-keeping, captaincy, concentration, motivation, fair-play codes and so on. Three budding young cricketers were selected

We sat down with this tape expecting another dull “ho-hum" coaching programme, but we were surprised. This tape is not only very instructional, it is good fun right from the start Jeremy Coney is nothing short of brilliant He explains the finer points of the game in language that can be understood by even the youngest players. He runs through the whole game, each facet having its own section— batting, fast bowling, swing bowling,

to demonstrate various points and one can see a marked improvement in their game as the programme progresses. Action from various matches used to highlight mistakes and good play has been chosen with care and must have involved many hours of research. This tape is a must for anyone with an interest in cricket, whether they be juniors starting out or more senior players. On sale at $49 (VHS or Beta) we consider this tape to be excellent value.
