70,000 on beaches
PA Auckland More than 70,000 people thronged to 14 Auckland surf beaches yesterday, making it the biggest attendance on any single day of the Auckland Surf Life-Saving Association’s 54year history. The peak was at noon, when there were about 30,000 on the beaches. Only 13 people had to be rescued.
