The Canterbury Museum archivist, Mr David Harrowfield, with some of the equipment and clothing which members of the Footsteps of Scott Antarctic expedition gave the museum yesterday. The leaders, Messrs Robert Swan and Roger Mear, literally gave the clothes off their backs before leaving for London on Thursday. Other equipment, which

has been set up in the museum’s visitors lounge, includes one of the sledges used, and travelometers. Even rubbish, which the environmentally conscious trekkers kept with them, lies on top of the sledge in a small plastic bag. The expedition display has been set up next to Scott’s original sledge. The display can be seen for at least the next two months.
