We are looking for someone who can liaise with unemployed groups and people In Government Departments. This is a fieldwork position and we want someone who can work independently in the community. The Group Employment Liaison Scheme consists of a network of 25 fieldworkers throughout the country and a 3 person Head Office Unit. The fieldworkers work with groups of unemployed such as gangs, work trusts and community groups who want to work together and who are often the least advantaged in the labour market. Fieldworkers provide a link between these groups and various Government Departments who offer employment and training assistance. They give out information on the assistance available and help groups sort out which assistance will best suit their needs and how to apply for it. The fieldworker is responsible to the Chief Executive Officer (GELS), Head Office and will be located in a community facility outside Department of Labour offices. Travel and time outside normal working hours will be required. An allowance in lieu of overtime and penal time will be paid. Employment is on contract for a specific term. The work of the Probation Service is concerned with the administration of all community based sanctions in the penal system. This includes the preparation of reports to the Courts, the supervision of offenders released on parole following imprisonment and the supervision of offenders serving the sentences of periodic detention and community service. The Deputy Warden assists the Warden with the day to day administration of the Periodic Detention Work Centre and the supervision of periodic detention detainees. The position would suit a person with experience and ability in the organisation and control of staff and machinery. Some accounting knowledge is desirable.
