Nuclear fusion pact
NZPA-AFP Paris The United States, Japan and the 12-nation European Economic Community are joining hands to expand cooperation on advanced nuclear fusion, which could provide the world with an inexhaustible source of energy in the second half of the twenty-first century. Senior officials of the three sides have signed a co-<»eration agreement sponsored by the Paris-
based International Energy Agency (1.E.A.). Under the agreement, the three partners will pool the experience achieved through tests on large research installations known as Tokamak reactors, like the one inaugurated last May by the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (J.A.E.R.1.). Similar reactors are operated by the United States at Princeton, New Jersey, and ' by the E.E.C. in Britain.
