Auckland dominant

PA New Plymouth Aucklanders dominated the first day of the Starling national championship sailed off Port Taranaki yesterday. In the non-championship invitation race, in the morning, Geoffrey Laws, aged 17 (Kohimarama), was first in Tangaroa. Michael O’Reilly, aged 15 (Murrays Bay), in Telstar, was a close second followed by his team-mate Scott Adam, aged 17, in Epic.

In the first race of the five-day championship O’Reilly won, Laws was second, and Adam third again.
