PA Napier A Territorial soldier launched a private attack yesterday on the Army’s 7th Battalion barracks in Owen Street, Napier. The soldier used a stone to smash his way in through a glass door about 4 a.m. and broke 13 windows, using chairs and pool balls. Then he charged on to the the street in an Army truck, driving it through a locked roller-door. He narrowly missed hitting a police patrol car that had just arrived. The truck stalled and the man was taken into custody. He was later charged with burglary and unlawfully taking the truck.
