Bunch left behind
Brian Fowler (Woolston W.M.C.) was in devastating form in winning the 8000 m feature scratch cycle race held in windy conditions at Denton Oval.
Fowler made a move with Chris Jordan at the 2500 m mark of the race, and opened up a 60m gap, on the bunch led by William Rastrick. But with 1500 m still to ride Fowler dropped a tiring Jordan, and went on to win easily from him, and a fast finishing Rastrick, who took the bunch sprint to finish third. Results: 8000 m scratch: B.
