Doctor waits to clear name
PA Auckland A former Whangamata doctor, lan Duncan, has gone back to university and says he will not practise medicine again until his name is cleared. Dr Duncan was found guilty of professional misconduct for making public the heart condition of a school bus driver, Mr Gordon Henry. Mr Henry has filed a $90,000 writ in the High Court alleging loss of earnings and enjoyment of life after he was forced to give
up driving because of Dr Duncan’s intervention. Dr Duncan also faces seven charges of disgraceful conduct, brought by the Medical Council’s preliminary proceedings committee. Dr Duncan said yesterday that he was studying for a physics degree at Otago University while he waited for the cases to be resolved.
Dr Duncan’s wife, Dr Anne Worsnop, is working part-time in general practice in Dunedin. The couple have no plans to return to Whangamata.
