Prisoner recaptured
Mark Huia Bain, who escaped from prison 17 days ago, has been caught. Bain, aged 25, a sickness beneficiary, had been charged with the armed robbery of a Bishopdale supermarket on November 28.
He was caught about 10 p.m. yesterday after a sighting of a stolen car in Sydenham. Bain ran from the police and was chased through several residential properties. He was apprehended by a trainee constable working with a patrol during the training college holidays. Bain escaped from Addington Prison on December 6 while he and nine men were being taken from a secure yard to the prison.
