"Duty Free’ returns

The situation comedy “DUTY FREE” returns over the summer for seven more rib-tickling escapades with the Pearces and the Cochrans as they go into the second and final week of their eventful and bizarre holiday. The new series starts at 9.20 p.m. this evening on One.

Keith Barron again stars as a redundant draughtsman, David Pearce, who has blown his redundancy money on the holiday-of-a-lifetime which his wife, Amy, originally looked upon

as their second honeymoon. Her romantic notion, however, was promptly hit for sue in the first week of the holiday when David began an ill-fated clandestine affair with the sophisticated, eternally starry-eyed Linda Cochran. She is on holiday too — with her husband. Although both parties have assured their spouses thast it was a holiday romance which is now over, their feelings for each other are still simmering beneath the surface. Gwen Taylor also stars as

David’s down-to-earth wife, who still has to use all her feminine wiles to keep her errant husband in check — although on one occasion in the new series David finds the situation with his wife reversed somewhat when television star Frazer Hines, playing himself, appears on the scene while filming a commercial in the area. Linda, who is played by Joanna Van Gyseghem, simply drooled over Frazer in “Emmerdale Farm,” so perhaps she too could be diverted from her fixation with David.
