Less than one-hundredth of a second separated the first three in the women’s 100m sprint at the Technical club’s invitation track and field meeting at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Saturday. The closeness of this remarkable finish is recorded in the official photo-finish print above. The New Zealand champion, Andrea Wade (Auckland), second from bottom, Bev Peterson (Canterbury), fourth from bottom, and Morag McMillan (Waikato), top, were all credited with the same time, 12.24s, into a stiff head wind. After reference to the photo, Wade was given first, Peterson second and McMillan third. The other sprinters, from top, are Lynette Stock (Canterbury), Helen Pirovano (Hawke’s Bay), and Nicky Doyle (Canterbury).
