A large house in Glandovey Road, Fendalton, was sold at auction on December 17 for $263,000. The house, which was auctioned by Mr David Sutton, of W. E. Simes and Company Real Estate, has a Government Valuation a of $264,000. About 15 e attended the auction. The house has four main bedrooms, three formal living rooms, a wide entrance hall, oak panelling and leadlight windows. The garden is well established, and one,of the boundaries is ! .formed > by, the Wairarapa Stream. Another Fendalton property, in Poynder Avenue, was sold at auction on December 11 for $150,000. The auctioneer, Mr Michael Gibbon, of Warwick Todd, Ltd, said there had been a lot of interest in the property, which has a Government Valuation (1985) of $120,000.
Some redecoration was needed in the house, which has two bedrooms and two living rooms. It was described as a superb site for a new house with established trees, maximum sun, privacy and a view over the Wairarapa Stream. A St Andrews Hill house, in Michael Avenue, was passed in at auction on December 12, but was sold immediately afterward for $146,000. The five-bedroom house, which included large living areas, sun terraces, and a
double garage, had a Government Valuation (1984) of $136,000. tlon (1985) of $168,000,, and will now be sold by private treaty as two separate dwellings. A block of four shops in Waterloo Road, Islington, was sold at auction on December 12 for $lOO,OOO. The auctioneer, Mr. Dayid Sutton,, of W. EL Simes and . Company Real Estate, said,, that about 10 people had attended the auction. The shops, including a grocery, post office, drapery: and hairdressing salon, returned $12,415 per year in rents, he said. An industrial property in the centre of Christchurch was passed in at auction on December 11 for $285,000. The quarter acre property had two street frontages — one in Tuam Street and one in St Asaph Street, and was described by the auctioneer, Mr Robert Brown, of Robert Brown Real Estate, as an investment for occupation or redevelopment. The buildings included showrooms, factory, warehouse and offices. The Government Valuation (1984) was $207,000. Mr Brown said there were several offers on the property and negotiations were - continuing.
