Motor-cycle prices fall
The managing director of Hollands Honda motor-cycle business has said that a statement, apparently coming from his firm, printed in “The Press” on Wednesday, did not in fact come from Hollands Honda. The statement was recorded in an article on cuts in import duties.
Mr Holland said that the statement might have given some readers the impression that Hollands Honda did not offer stock at lowered prices to take into account the removal of duty. “Like everyone else, we
had to take it on the chin, and we dropped our prices immediately. For example, the average price of a 250 cu cm machine has come down $350. That kind of cut means that our margin has gone and we are selling at purchase price.
“Everything on the floor was cut,” said Mr Holland. "We have a big turnover here and were probably one of the lucky ones in that we were not hugely overstocked. New stock has come in from bond today, and is also on the floor at the new and lower price.”
