Jeremy Ghiloni, aged nine, is treated by rescue workers yesterday after he was pulled from the bottom of a farm pond near Newark, Ohio, after 40 minutes under water. The chief deputy of Licking County Sheriffs Department, Ed Maharg, said that the boy apparently was playing on an ice-covered portion of the pond when he fell into a section about three metres deep. His condition was described by a Licking Memorial Hospital spokeswoman as very critical.
