Wellington reporter The Government has granted a two-thirds rental subsidy to the I.H.C. vocational centre in Sheffield Crescent, Christchurch.
The grant was announced yesterday by the member of Parliament for Yaldhurst, Mrs Margaret Austin. She said the centre catered for 50 clients and was a part-replacement for the former Kilmarnock Street workshop which was sold to Canterbury Sheltered Workshops. The Government will contribute a two-thirds subsidy towards the rent for the Ferry Road vocational centre used by the Society for the Intellectually Handicapped. A Government statement said the total subsidy towards the centre’s rent for the years 1985-86 and 198687 would be $36,667. The centre, which has 60 clients, is also part replacement for the former LH.C. workshop in Kilmarnock Street
