Mary Heny prepares for take-off on a Funcoaster, helped by her Summer Times colleague, Tony Soutter, in Cathedral Square. The Funcoaster, which made its debut yesterday, consists of a 2m-wide disc which rolls around much like a spinning top. It was invented by a Reefton man for his family and developed by a Christchurch engineering firm, Aabaas Bros. Although the Funcoaster has missed this year’s Christmas toy shelves, the company hopes it will be a big hit next year.
