Lower bill yields

PA Wellington The Reserve Bank entered the money market again yesterday, selling S7SM worth of Treasury bills on the open market.

This followed low sales on Tuesday when the bank sold only SSM worth of bills, having offered SIOOM, and sold only S72M more at the weekly tender, again having offered SIOOM.

Yesterday’s sales were SS7M million of 14-day bills at interest rates of 18.53-18.74 per cent with a weighted average of 18.56 per cent, and SIBM of 41-day bills at 18.33-19.1 per cent, with an average of 18.71 per cent. Both of the yields yesterday were were below Tuesday’s tender averages of 20.024 per cent for 35-day bills and 19.021 per cent for 70-day bills.
