Film on orange roughy
A 30-minute film on New Zealand’s top-selling fish species, orange roughy, has just had its first screening and will be shown on network television.
Entitled “Orange Roughy,” the film was shot aboard Fletcher Fishing’s vessel Otago Buccaneer during a research cruise in 1984 under the charters-for-quota scheme.
Ten hours of film were shot by the cameraman, Chris Thomas, of the Fisheries Research Division of the Ministry of Fisheries. This has been edited to 30 minutes. The film covers the entire fishery process from capture north of the Chatham Islands through to export after processing at Fletcher Fishing’s factory at Dunedin.
