Aust. format for pairs bowls tourney
With the support of the local business community, the Beckenham Bowling Club has organised a professional pairs tournament. It will be held next Sunday and Monday, and will be played under the Australian format of eight bowls,, each player playing two in rotation. ' The tournament carries $lBOO in prize money. A among the 28 invited teams are a number of top com-
binations. The favourites will be Roy Bailey and Ken Watson (Linwood), Ray Hunt and Bruce McNish (Spreydon), Kevin McDonald and lan McAllister (Dallington), George Matthews and Travis Coup (Kaiapoi), Lyn Jlanger and Robin Howman (Bumside), Roger Glendinning and John Saundercock (Linwood) and Bill McDonald and Bernie Johns, from the Spreydon and Linwood clubs respectively.
