Shipping news Record draught set of 11.51m
A new record for the deepest loaded draught to berth at the port of Lyttelton was set last Friday on the Danish tanker Jakob Maersk. The tanker drew 11.51 metres. The previous record inward loaded draught at Lyttelton was 11.48 metres, set in July, 1977, on the Danish tanker Grete Maersk. The Jakob Maersk unloaded 28,187 tons of petroleum product at the Oil Wharf before sailing on Sunday. This included 14,000 tons of M 96 petrol, 10,000 tons of gas oil, and 4187 tons of jet fuel. The week-end’s visit was the third by the Jakob Maersk to Lyttelton. The 33,134-ton tanker is 212 metres long. ARRIVALS Tendai Maru (5.30 a.m.), 16,340, Auckland (P. and O.).
