Home milk wanted

PA Wellington A total of 78 per cent of New Zealanders would expect their member of Parliament to try to make sure the home delivery of milk was continued, according to a survey released yesterday. The national AGB-McNair survey of 1523 households was commissioned by the Federation of Milk Vendors.

The survey showed that 96 per cent of New Zealanders believed it was important to retain the service, the federation said.

If changes in the milk industry meant home delivery of milk did not continue, 70 per cent said they wuld be upset. The federation’s president, Mr lan Murray, said his organisation was delighted with the results.

“I can’t say we were surprised at the results, but it was important to undergo this exercise to prove conclusively what we have always believed to be the case.

“The New Zealand milk consumer wants to retain the home delivery service and would be upset to learn of any changes in the industry that might put that service at risk.” The federation has said the viability of home delivery was threatened by possible changes in the distribution, pricing and packaging of milk.
