National ‘will sort out problems’
PA Tauranga Sir Robert Muldoon said after a public meeting he was confident the National Party would soon "sort out” its leadership problems. The former Prime Minister repeated his belief that there would soon be a change in the party leadership. “The change in leadership is working its way through the system now and it is just a case of when it will happen,’’ he said. Mr Jim Bolger was the likely candidate for the leadership (to replace Mr McLay), Sir Robert said. “The party cannot go struggling on the way it is ... the sooner a decision is made the better.” Sir Robert said he was not directly involved in the leadership issue.
