N.Z. ski-jump record
PA Auckland A Wanganui water skier, Gary Tohill, easily broke the New Zealand record for the jump off a 5m ramp yesterday by 5.9 metres 5. Tohill, aged 25, soared 40.2 m off the ramp, to set the record for the 25-31 age \ group. Tohill did not meet his personal best of 43.4 m which he gained in 1983 during trials for the World Championships, but nevertheless he was thrilled with
his 40.2 m distance, he said. He was one of 30 competitors in the Auckland Waterski Club’s annual North Island tournament on the Orakei Basin. Skiers from •' Wanganui, Rotorua, Wellington, Dargaville, . New and .Waikato .vyet* taking part in the two-day event John Gibbons won yesterday’s handicap section with a personal best jump of 21.8 m. Janine Woods won the women’s open jump with 26.4 m.
