Pay rise for guards

PA Wellington Security guards and patrol officers will receive $4O a week more from the beginning, of January. The secretary of the Caretakers and Cleaners’ Union, Mr Pat Kelly, said the increase was 17.02 per cent at the top rate and 18.85 at the lowest

rate. The award, which covers about 1200 security officers except those in the northern region, was settled this week after the employers dropped their claim for a sanctity clause. Mr Kelly said the sanctity clause had bpen a big obstacle, as it would have made. it impossible for v
