Adios King chosen for Greymouth
From Alex McMillan
Greymouth In the absence of In the Glen and with the likelihood of soft footing, the Riccar-ton-trained four-year-old, Adios King, could prove a formidable lightweight prospect in the W. R. Kettle Memorial Handicap, the third leg of the T.A.B. treble and the TA.B. trifecta event at the Greymouth Jockey Club’s postponed meeting at Omoto today. The Adios II entire returned the effort of a definite improver when fourth over 1650 m at Hokitika last Monday, and with just 51kg and from a handy barrier draw should be prominent from the outset in today’s 2000 m feature.
In an open, rather than a talented field, Cellarmaster, Gay King and Tiger Bow must be respected, while His Latest and Amacola would emerge as bright
chances in the unlikely event of the track becoming firm. t . Blarney Fair, a stablemate of Adios King, both trained by “Ned” Thistoll, is one of many chances in the first leg of the T.A.B. double, the L. A Griffiths Handicap, and is likely to be well suited by the Omoto circuit She could start at false odds against an interesting line-up. The Michael Pitmantrained pair, Mighty Million
and Pokare, are sure to be well-supported, while Halls of Holly, Sound Note and Miss March; will also have their admirers. The Hawera visitor, 'Black Carbon, showed commendable fighting qualities when successful in his only outing at Hokitika last week and appears ',, capable of overcoming an awkward barrier draw, in the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the 1400 m Messenger and Son Handicap.
