Renovation of temple

NZPA-Reuter Peking A Buddhist temple outside Peking, which Chinese officals say has the largest stone tablet library in the ’ world, will be renovated after being badly damaged by Japanese troops in 1940, say the Xinhua News Agency. The agency said that Yunju Temple, 70km southwest of the Chinese capital, had a collection of 14,278 stone tablets engraved with Buddhist scriptures between the fifth and fifteenth centuries A.D.

Work on renovating the temple buildings is due to be completed by April next year.
