Trawler free of tangle

The fishing trawler Cordelia is due to leave Lyttelton this morning after having a piece of netting cleared from her propellers yesterday. The Nelsen-based Skeggs vessel was fishing for Oreo Dory some distance off the Canterbury coast when one of her nets became fouled in the propellers. She was towed to the harbour limits by a Japanese trawler owned by one of Skeggs’ joint-venture partners, said a company spokesman, who did not want to be named. Lyttelton Harbour Board tugs towed her into port about noon yesterday. Divers spent the afternoon clearing the net and checking for possible damage. The Cordelia had been at sea for about a week and was 20 per cent full when the mishap occurred.
