Aust. dog blitzes useful field

By STEVE WILSON The Queensland-trained Flying Percent blitzed a good field of class 5 greyhounds, when winning his heat of the Classique Cottages N.Z. Championship at the Christchurch Greyound Racing Club’s meeting at Queen Elizabeth II Park yesterday. After taking up a handy position behind early paceamker, Knight Mirage, he railed well going into the backstraight and came away for an 11% length win over Cherry Tree Hill. The well-supported northern hope, Uli Uli, stormed home late to almost take second off Cherry Tree Hill, which was always handy to the pace. Matagouri Rose caused a minor upset when she beat the well supported Living Stone. The Laurel Streak bitch made good use of the “ace” draw and was never pressured. Merely Magic and Gallant Man have ensured that Christchurch kennels will be well represented in Thursday evening’s final when providing the quinella in their heat.
