Veteran winemaker

Mr Jack McNae, of Mount Pleasant, has been making wine for about 65 years, ever since he started helping his mother as a young boy. He has exhibited wines with considerable success and has entered 12 bottles in the wine competition at this week’s Canterbury show. Mr McNae has made 92

different types of wines and is constantly planning new ones. By the end of this season he expects to have 100 different types. Although he doesn’t drink wines because of health reasons, Mr McNae recommends apple wine. Elderberries and blackcurrants made lovely wines also, and were ideal for social drinking.
