Mr Peter Cadigan, superintendent of grounds at the University of Canterbury, prepares for the annual, gardens open day at Ham on Sunday. The open day is organised by the university in conjunction with the Canterbury Horticultural Society. A big
attraction will be displays of rhododendrons and azaleas. Flowers have been grown at Ham for more than 130 years. Produce from the garden of the old homestead was shown at the first show held by the Canterbury Horticulture Society in 1852.
