New Oderings Nursery exceeds expectations
The success of the new 3.6 hectare Oderings Nursery in Philpotts Road, Waimairi, has exceeded all expectations since it opened more than a fortnight ago. “By 2 p.m. last Sunday, there were well over a thousand visitors here, with more than 100 cars in our car park and along Philpotts Road,” said the manager of the new nursery, Mr Brent Gardiner.
“It’s been extremely busy, verging on chaos at times with people everywhere. “We are very lucky, however, to have such a big garden area of 3.6 hectares, providing enough room for everyone to move. “We had a week-end staff of six who managed to handle the customers very well, and I’m sure that we
will also be able to cope when our gardens, including the picnic-recreation area, are in place.
“The general comment from visitors is that it’s really good having such a large nursery on the northern side of Christchurch.
“This area was insufficiently served before Oderings opened in Philpotts Road, but now people in the northern suburbs do not have to travel great distances to get variety. “Although we had visitors from all over Christchurch, a large percentage came from around this area. Customers also came from Belfast, Kaiapoi and Rangiora, because those places are not all that far away,” Mr Gardiner said.
