UBS leads fleet
PA Auckland The Farr maxi yacht ÜBS Switzerland continued to lead the Whitbread fleet as she passed 215 km off Dakar on the western tip of Senegal yesterday. The fractionally rigged ÜBS was 235 km ahead of Peter Blake’s masthead Holland maxi Lion New Zealand, which in turn had an B.skm lead on the mast-
head Farr design, Portatan. Reporting these positions yesterday, the Auckland HQ of the Whitbread round-the-world yacht race said Lion’s near sister ship, Drum England, continued to improve, in fourth spot on the water, 90km behind Lion. Digby Taylor’s fractional Farr design, NZI Enterprise, was fifth, 135 km astern of its arch-rival, Lion.
