Gang members upset
PA Auckland Mongrel Mob members say they are seeking legal advice after being banned from Onehunga’s Trident Tavern. A spokesman, Derrin Minliinnick, claimed the Lion Breweries’ tavern was prejudiced against gang members. “It reckons the staff feel threatened by us but none of the patrons do,” he said.
The brewery called a
meeting about the gang but he said it was one-sided because the Mongrel Mob was not represented. “Every time we try to go into one of its pubs it calls the task force in and we have to move on,” Mr Minhinnick said.
we have decided to seek legal advice.” The manager of the Trident Tavern, Mr Dave Treweek, confirmed that the gang was banned. “It is because of the
trouble it has caused,” he said. “The members threaten customers and staff and I have been threatened many times.” The area manager for the brewery, Mr Pat Williams, said that “some individuals” were barred from the Trident. /He did not know if they were gang members. “We enforced the ban after tavern staff withdrew labour because of the trouble these people caused,” he said.
