Garage, car hit by fire

A private garage in Essex Street, Linwood, and a car parked inside were damaged in what the police believe was an arson attack early on Saturday morning. The fire appeared to have been started from cardboard which had been piled near the garage, said a C. 1.8. spokesman. The blaze, which was noticed about 1 a.m., was quickly brought under control. Damage to the car and the garage was estimated at several hundred dollars.
