Police Assn job to Christchurch man
PA Wellington A Christchurch trade unionist, Mr Graham Harding, has been appointed to the Police Association top job to replace Dr Bob Moodie who has resigned. Mr Harding is secretary
of the Canterbury Hotel, Hospital and Restaurant Workers’ Union and will take over the role of police industrial advocate. Dr Moodie’s old job has been split and an appointment has yet to be made for the more administrative work.
Mr Harding, aged 38, married, with three children, has a reputation as a tough trade unionist and is chairman of the Labour Party’s Canterbury regional council. He is also a member of the party’s national council. The association’s president, Mr Keith Borrow, said last evening that Mr Harding would not start his new job based in Wellington until next month.
