PA Wellington Taranaki, newly promoted to the first division, and relegated Waikato produced a dull end-of-season display at New Plymouth yesterday, which saw the match end in a 16-16 draw. Waikato looked ready for fireworks, but an indifferent
Taranaki, without its'three All Blacks, Kieran Crowley, Dave Loveridge and Bryce Robins, failed to respond, and seemed content to sit on a 13-10 half-time lead. Waikato, applied heavy pressure in the second spell but Taranaki was strong in defence and conceded only one try in that half.
