The garden area is well established, with an underground irrigation system. The property has a 1982 Government Valuation of $BO,OOO. About 20 people attended the auction, and the auctioneer was Mr Tim Templeton, of Matson and Allan Real Estate. A four bedroom house on Colombo Street, Beckenham, was sold by public auction on October 1, for $66,000. The house has a 1984 Government Valuation of $51,000. The double storey
house is situated on a 1062 sq m section, with two living rooms, two sun rooms. It is in sound condition, and has a new decramastic roof. It was described as being an ideal property for a young family. The auction attracted over 70 people but this included the sale of the house’s chattels. The auctioneer was Mr Kent Prier, of Kent Prier Real Estate. A 32 perch section on Marama Crescent, St. Andrews Hill, was sold on October 2, for $65,000. The land had no Government Valuation. It was described as possibly the last available site on the lower slopes of St Andrews Hill for a house, or town houses.
About 12 people attended the auction, with Mr lan Stephens, of Stephens Real
Estate, as auctioneer. The land was handled jointly with Stephens, and Les Harvey Realty, Ltd. A five bedroom house on the corner of Oxford Terrace arid Bangor Street was passed in and later sold for $52,000 at a public auction on September 26. Located in the Avon Loop area, the house was described as being a substantial, early, square villa which has been faithfully maintained and tidily decorated. It has a protected, northerly view over the Avon River. The house includes two living rooms, kitchen, bathroom, and shower room. The section was 455 sq m. The auctioneer was Mr Peter Cook, of Simes and Co. About eight people attended the auction. Four two-bedroom flats
on Salisbury Street were passed in at public auction on October 1, for $150,000. The flats are now on the open market. In the last year they have been extensively redecorated. Therefore, the 1984 Government Valuation of $65,500 bears no resemblance to the state of the properties, according to the auctioneer, Mr John Kennedy, of Drewerys Estate Agency. The flats were described as having been redecorated to a high standard, with large living spaces, quality chattels, and lock-up garages. Mr Kennedy said the flats were an ideal investment opportunity.
