Auckland may have the Ranfurly Shield but the owners of a Canterbury tee-shirt shop, Karenlee and Bruce Rae, are printing Auckland Shield shirts. The Christchurch shop, Ace T Shirts, is a specialist in Canterburycoloured Shield shirts. When the Shield went north, Mr Rae thought Auckland should at least have the benefit of Canterbury-made shirts. He exchanged red and black inks for blue. Since then, the shop has been “flat out” with orders from Aucklanders gripped with Shield fever. About 50 shirts are being posted away a day, with further orders coming from two Auckland shops wishing to stock the shirts. Mr Rae, however, is convinced that blue is only a temporary colour. “We’ll be back to red and black next year,” he said.
