Final still in Mexico
NZPA-Reuter Zurich Mexico will still stage next year’s World Cup soccer finals as planned in spite of extensive earthquake damage, the International Football Federation (F.1.F.A.) has said. The general secretary, Mr Joseph Blatter, told a press conference: “We have decided at a meeting here ...
not to change the original plan to stage the World Cup finals in Mexico next year.” The decision was taken after personal contacts with football authorities in Mexico City, the F..1.F.A. president, Mr Joao Havelange in Brazil and Hermann Neuberger, chairman of F.I.F.A.’s organising committee in West Germany, Mr Blatter said.
