Greyhounds Cherry Tree Hill wins

By

STEVE WILSON

The Ray Adcock-trained, Cherry Tree Hill, took out the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s Americas Trophy (560 m last evening at Queen Elizabeth II Park. The Club’s Colours bitch made a good beginning from box No. 7, to take up a handy position behind the early pacemaker, Pride Of Slitrig. She made the lead down the back straight and came away for an easy win. Penny Moran held on to just take second from Pride Of Slitrig, which came again at the finish. ' The favourite, Swannee Hobbs, was last away and was always too far back to be a threat. He came on well over the closing stages to take fourth place. The evening’s other feature, the Robinson Rosebowl, was won by Chinook Lass which led all the way to just hold out the strong finishing Riverside Mint. She was lucky to be in the field after originally being an emergency for the race. Greyhound results: AWA STAKES $150; C2; 330 m 4- PRICKLEY PEACE 4 (P. B. Murchison and F. M.
