Mail changes
Certain deadlines for Christmas surface mailing overseas have been altered because of shipping changes, according to the Post Office’s assistant manager to the Chief Postmaster, Mr Theo Bunker. All deadline changes were advertised at each post office, he said. A list of the latest dates for posting mail to several different countries was printed in “The Press” yesterday. Amendments to the
list include a closing date of Tuesday, September 24, for letters and greeting cards for Austria. Belgium, Finland, France, West Germany and Hungary. The new closing date for packets and parcels is Friday, September 20. Great Britain and Ireland deadlines for letters and greeting cards are now Friday, October 11. The closing date for packets and parcels is Wednesday, October 9.
