Treasury bill interest
Sir,—That great inventor, Thomas Edison, stated: “If your nation can issue a dollar bond, it can issue a dollar bill (note). The element that makes the bond good makes the bill good, also.” Why must our Government sell our bonds at over 25 per cent interest — absolute inflation? Because of our conditioned minds to accept slogans in place of ideas we allow this to continue. If the Government must sell bonds to siphon surplus cash out of circulation it should accept cash only, so preventing the creation of new credit. It would be
interesting to know just who is governing this unhappy but nevertheless wonderful land.—Yours, etc. FRANK ALACK. Nelson, September 14, 1985.
