Keep edges neat

Many lawns are edged by paths, driveways, even boxing. Well and good for easy maintenance for it is a simple matter to run the lawn mower along the firm strip thus presented and then to steer a wheeled edging tool around the perimeter providing a neatly trimmed and very presentable piece of turf. Yet for some undiscovered reason it is fairly common to see this edge cut away to form a shallow trench between the lawn and the permanent edge. Additional time is required to cut the overhanging grass with grass shears and it is not long before this edge becomes an uneven line with weeds beginning to fill the depression as in the photograph.
