Miss Wakem to join board
PA Wellington Radio New Zealand s Director-General, Miss Beverlev Wakem, has been appointed to the board of the Australia-New Zealand Foundation, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Lange. The foundation was established in 1978 and two branches run separately in
Australia and New Zealand. The foundation promotes the relationship between Australia and New Zealand, including sponsoring research, promoting cultural relations and bringing distinguished visitors to New Zealand. The branches are independently funded but maintain close links and have assisted several projects
jointly. Miss Wakem succeeds the secretary of the AustraliaNew Zealand Businessmen’s Council, Mr K. J. Futter, and a former secretary of the Trade and Industry Department. Mr Lange said Miss Wakem’s appointment for a three-year term would be of considerable benefit to the foundation.
