Slides of sculpture

Canterbury sculptor Neil Dawson will give a slide talk tomorrow at the C.S.A. Gallery. The slides will show several sculpture projects completed by the artist in the last 12 months. They include The Rock, a New York installation, Five Works, and Recent Development. The Rock is a large sculpture commission, built for the Bank of New Zealand head office in Wellington. Its fabrication was done at a warehouse in Hornby and

the work was taken to Wellington by sea in two halves. With the help of a crane it was suspended in its new site by high tensile wires. Five Works is an installation of five large sculptures, fabricated and exhibited in a public mall in New York’s city university centre in Manhattan. The installation was an

integral part of a group showing by established New Zealand artists, to introduce contemporary New Zealand art to New York residents. Recent Developments has exhibited this year in Dunedin and Auckland and features recent works by the artist. The slide talk begins at 7.30 p.m.
