Mail dates

Industrial action on the Auckland waterfront has caused a change in dates for the closing of some overseas surface mail intended for Christmas delivery. The Chief Postmaster in Christchurch, Mr Syd Bradley, said that parcels for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, West Germany, Finland, France, Hungary, and Poland would now close at 5 p.m. on September 19. The closing time for cards and letters to these countries was 5 p.m. on September 23.
